WSU Hematology - Oncology

The Division of Hematology/Oncology offers an exciting and stimulating program in hematology and medical oncology that leads to board eligibility for both subspecialties. We prepare fellows for careers in academic medicine, which may encompass the clinical or basic sciences related to cancer and blood diseases.

Our faculty members all hold scientific appointments at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. Our faculty have a history of excellence in patient care and clinical teaching. and research

Multidisciplinary teams are the backbone of clinical care. They provide prospective evaluation and recommendations for diagnosis and therapy. Presentations regarding patients occur at weekly patient management conference as well as educational conference.

The division is active in clinical trials research, as well as federally funded research. It has a national reputation for academic excellence, research, and clinical quality.  Wayne State University and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute are its academic and clinical affiliates. The division is a unique, urban based, culturally-diverse, integrated system of research, patient care and education.

The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute is one of 40 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States. 

To further this claim of excellence, our department has multiple physicians listed as "Top Docs" by Hour Detroit and Styleline magazines, recognizing them as being at the top of their field in the metro Detroit region.
